Posted Saturday morning, 1.12.2013 – Pam brought home the Ellsworth American last night where I read about the paper’s urgent search for snowmen and that the period for finding these rare creatures had been extended. It’s no wonder. While the life expectancy for humankind has generally risen over the recent century, global warming has caused this species’ already short lifespan to dwindle to just a few days.

Surprisingly, with a little digging, I discovered this snowman right on Union Street. Neighbors, friends and complete strangers were stopping by to pay him a visit before January’s thaw and its rain washes him away.
